Tabata - Japanese Interval Training
Tabata is a popular training form originating in Japan. It is a high-intensity interval training developed by Japanese Izumi Tabata who researched sports and health at Ritsumeikan University in Tokyo. Tabata's studies show that one becomes stronger, improves endurance, and burns more calories through training in short, intense intervals than through longer low-intensity training.
A traditional Tabata block consists of one exercise and follows the principle of 20 seconds of work, 10 seconds of rest, and it is repeated 8 times. In other words, a Tabata block takes 4 minutes. A Tabata session is, in its basic form, 20 minutes long and consists of 5 different Tabata exercises.
We will go through the body and perform exercises that strengthen arms, back, abs, glutes, and legs. We start with a 5-minute warm-up and finish with a light stretching.
