Japanese Martial Arts

KENDO is a Japanese martial art that was originally called kenjutsu, sword technique. It was developed by the samurai, mainly during the civil wars in Japan in the 1500s. Speed​​, precision and endurance are all important components of the training. In Japan, kendo is one of the most common forms of budo (term describing Japanese martial arts) and many Japanese have practiced it at school. You get a class in kendo which includes the basics and technique.

KARATE is a Japanese self-defense sport with a focus on energy and discipline. It was developed on the main island of Okinawa south of the Japanese mainland. You will learn basic rules and techniques, with an emphasis on self-defense. In addition to being a fun and social sport, karate has proven to be a great tool for stress management. Mentally, many people feel that they increase their ability to stay focused and find their inner peace. In addition, the training strengthens your body and makes you flexible and increases your ability to think and react fast.

KARAOKE

KARAOKE is one of the most popular Japanese activities. In Japan, there are bars where people sing in front of strangers, but the most common thing is to rent a karaoke room and sing together with friends or colleagues. In these rooms, you can order both food and drinks.

Bring your colleagues to our Karaoke Lounge and sing your hearts out for a few hours. You can order drinks to the room.

Origami

Learn the Japanese art of paper folding that originated in the 1700s in Japan. During this time they used the beautifully skulpted paper models as decoration at ceremonies. Today, orgami is both a popular hobby and a respected art form in Japan. During the course you will learn how to make the paper models without using glue or scissors. You start with a basic box and move on to more advance models.

Mizuhiki

Mizuhiki is made of rice paper that is twisted into a thin, strong and flexible cord whose history dates all the way back to the seventh century. For centuries, mizuhiki was used in aristocratic and high-class circles, but became later more common. Traditionally you would use mizuhiki to create hair accessories, jewelleries, decorations on cards and envelopes as giveaways for weddings and other ceremonies.

During this class you will see a short movie about the artcraft and you will learn how to make knots and have the possibility to create your own piece of choice.

Calligraphy

The art of writing with ink and brush. Japanese calligraphy is used with both pen and brush and can be used as a way of conveying a message or an opportunity to vent their artistic spirit. In this course, you will learn more about the Japanese calligraphy and after going through the basics and rules in calligraphy, you will get the chance to create your own beautiful lettering.

Japanese Radio Gymnastics

Wake your body up to classical Japanese radio gymnastics. Your activity leader will show you the basics of this exhilarating activity where you, with the help of music, a Japanese radio DJ, start you day off with a smile.
